Temporary foreign workers (TFWs)ย who are exempted from giving bio-metrics only if they are set to work as TRUCK DRIVERS, or in the HEALTH-CARE, AGRICULTURE, or AGRI-FOOD sectors in Canada.
IRCC notes that many of these workers have already provided Canada with theirย bio-metrics. Nonetheless, they will collect the bio-metrics of all TFW’s to ensure safety of Canadian nationals.
What happens upon arrival to Canada ?
Upon arrival, at a Point of Entry (POE) in Canada all TFWs may be asked to provide their bio-metrics.
In addition, they will be screened at the POE by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to ensure they are arriving for an essential purpose. Once a TFW has entered Canada,ย they must self-quarantine by lawย for a period of 14 days.
More resilience on Canada overseas bio-metrics:
IRCC has also stated that it is providing an additional extension. Especially to individuals who are currently unable to submit their bio-metrics overseas.
Even if an individualโs bio-metric instruction letter states they have a 30- or 90-day deadline. They do not need to worry about missing the deadline. If their nearest visa application center or bio-metrics collection site remains closed.
IRCC has reiteratedย that it will not close or refuse any application that is currently in progress due to missing documents.
About Canada Overseas Bio-metrics
Generally speaking, foreign nationals who apply for visa (except U.S. nationals), or a study or work permit extension are required to give bio-metrics.
Such individuals submit their fingerprints, photo, and pay a fee. Canada collects bio-metrics to quickly and accurately confirm the identity of foreign travelers for smoother entry into the country.
