As we all are aware that now a days every country/ community is dealing with Novel Corona Virus which in lieu is impacting every phase of the life let it be Social or Financial. Every country is helping their citizen in a way or other. Therefore, in COVID19 pandemic, the Canadian government has announced Canada Emergency Response Benefits (CERB) for those who are eligible for the help during the corona-virus epidemic.

Canada Emergency Response Benefits (CERB)?

The Canada Emergency Response Benefits (CERB) is the taxable government payment meant to temporarily help those who are struggling with conditions that have resulted in the sudden loss of their income due to corona-virus pandemic. In this everyone is helped by the government by paying them 2000 CAD$ each per month. However, this CERB is available from 15th March to 03rd October 2020 and no one can apply after 02nd December 2020. These benefit are available as early as possible once the person has applied for it.

Who all are eligible?

The following people can apply:

  • Either you are sick or quarantined due to COVID19.
  • If you have lost the job or if you are self employed yet have to close your business.
  • Or you are taking care of someone who is infected from Corona Virus.
  • If you are a working parent who has to stay home without pay to take care of your child or other dependents.

What is the criteria to apply for the CERB?

CERB is benefiting only to those who have lost or stopped working in amid of COVID19 attack.

In addition, students who were searching for jobs or who were planning for summer jobs are not eligible to get benefit from it.

Above all you must fulfill the following criteria to apply for this

  • should have a valid social insurance number
  • One must reside in Canada and be at least 15 years old.
  • must have stopped working due to the reason of COVID-19
  • Person must have a $2000 income in 2019 or the 12 months before the date applying for CERB. For instance, income source can be from employment, self employment or maternity/paternal benefits.

  1. valid social insurance number
  2. Personal Contact Number
  3. Confirm that you meet the eligibility.
